{"id":4032,"date":"2018-09-25T00:15:17","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T00:15:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=4032"},"modified":"2018-09-25T00:15:17","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T00:15:17","slug":"mid-autumn-festival-at-lvc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2018\/09\/25\/mid-autumn-festival-at-lvc\/","title":{"rendered":"Mid-Autumn Festival at LVC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\"><p>By My Ho \u201921, staff writer<\/p>\n<p>According to ancient Chinese, the fullest moon of the year will appear on the 15<sup>th\u00a0<\/sup>day of the eighth<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>month of the lunar calendar and it marks an important occasion for Asian communities around the world, which includes Lebanon Valley College.<\/p>\n<p>Mid-Autumn Festival first originated in China and then spread to many neighboring countries in Asia. This event traditionally honors the deities and the roundness of the moon with moon cakes, a round cake with bean and egg fillings.<\/p>\n<p>At LVC, Asian communities are excited for the festival as it\u2019s just around the corner on Sept. 24<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur country has a tradition,\u201d Hyeri Cho (Sally), an international student and Global Education Club officer, said. \u201cWe make food in every Mid-Autumn Festival and we bow to our ancestors in the house. We make a dish called jeon-Korean pancakes. Our family makes bibimbap together, after bowing to ancestors, in a big bowl. It just makes every family gather and actually share and talk.
