The program hopes to reduce homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism which will help make members of our community more comfortable on campus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy agreeing to become a member of the Brave Zone Network, the participant agrees to undergo training and serve as a resource,\u201d Olajiwon McCadney, assistant director of intercultural affairs and inclusive programming, said. \u201cThey will help people seeking clarification on issues of sexuality and gender diversity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those who complete the Brave Zone training will receive the official Brave Zone placard to hang in their space. This will inform the community of individuals who are supportive and trustworthy regarding sexuality and gender diversity issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStudents are educated about sexual orientation and gender identity issues,\u201d McCadney said. \u201cThey will provide support to LVC community members that identify within the LGBT+ spectrum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Participants will learn about identities, key terms, pronouns, available resources and much more. They will recognize ways to create a positive campus environment for students, faculty and staff of all gender identities, gender expressions and sexual orientations.<\/p>\n<p>Brave Zone trainings are held several times throughout each semester. Students should sign up on Redbook prior to attending a training session.
