The softball team is preparing for a successful season on the diamond. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The softball team trained especially hard this off-season as they had multiple lifts per week with strength and conditioning Coach Jared Hatz. The team did a lot of heavy lifting but were also fortunate enough to participate in fall ball competitions.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe focused on mainly power lifting and gaining strength this off-season,\u201d Tianna Yanoscak, a sophomore pitcher, said. \u201cWe also played really well in our fall ball competition at Millersville going a perfect 3-0.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The softball team has holes to fill; however, the team noticed that the newly recruited freshmen have stepped up and have taken a larger role.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe freshmen have really stepped up this season and are helping to fill the roles of the seniors that we lost to graduation,\u201d Kate Whelski, a sophomore second baseman, said. \u201cThey are filling in at various positions and helping our team be whole again.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

LVC softball will host the MAC playoffs this spring. The girls stressed how important it was that they are able to not only play but win playoffs and hopefully the MAC title in a home setting. They fell short last year.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPlayoffs, we have to make playoffs,\u201d Yanoscak said. \u201cWe want to host playoffs and actually have the opportunity to not only play, but to succeed and hopefully win.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The girls have put in the work in the off-season both on the field and in the weight room with the help of their Head Coach Erin Whitman.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Whitman made the off-season and the preseason flow easier and smoother for us,\u201d Whelski said. She is very good in supporting us and making sure we are prepared.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The team travels to Florida over spring break to play. When they return from Florida, the team will have it\u2019s first game March 14 against Elizabethtown. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
