{"id":197,"date":"2016-10-12T11:01:39","date_gmt":"2016-10-12T11:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www2.lvc.edu\/lavie\/?p=197"},"modified":"2016-10-12T11:01:39","modified_gmt":"2016-10-12T11:01:39","slug":"women-on-skates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2016\/10\/12\/women-on-skates\/","title":{"rendered":"Women on skates"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\"><p>By Kirsten Bannan &#8217;18, Staff Writer<\/p>\n<p>Women\u2019s ice hockey is a brand new sport on LVC\u2019s campus, and the team is excited to leave its mark on the Mid-Atlantic Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The newest Dutchman team was formed this year by Don Parsons, the head men\u2019s ice hockey coach, and the athletic department last spring. <\/p>\n<p>The new women\u2019s ice hockey coach is Isabel Menard. Menard is from Canada and played collegiate hockey at Syracuse University and Boston College. \u00a0She also has an extensive coaching history. <\/p>\n<p>Practice has already begun. The team is led by junior Nikki Lloyd. Lloyd is also a member of the women\u2019s lacrosse team at LVC, and played a big part in bringing the women\u2019s ice hockey team together. <\/p>\n<p>Lloyd is optimistic about the upcoming season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a good outlook,\u201d Lloyd said. \u201cWe know we aren\u2019t going to win every game. We need people on the ice who want to be there and work hard and I think we have that.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Menard is excited for the season and the opportunity to start working with the players. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy main goal for the players is for them to buy into what I\u2019m bringing.\u201d Menard said.<\/p>\n<p>Buying into her program is Menard\u2019s biggest point and she thinks with skill development and the formation of a team dynamic, the team will have a good season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe support the community is giving is tremendous,\u201d Mernard said.<\/p>\n<p>The season starts October 28; the first home game is November 1 against Utica at 7 p.m. in Hershey. <\/p>\n<p>For the team\u2019s complete schedule, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.godutchmen.com\/schedule.aspx?path=whockey\">HERE<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By Kirsten Bannan &#8217;18, Staff Writer Women\u2019s ice hockey is a brand new sport on LVC\u2019s campus, and the team is excited to leave its mark on the Mid-Atlantic Conference.
