Receiving this coat helped to signify as a reminder of all the hard work and dedication to LVC’s SLP program and helped to bring her one step closer to reaching her future career.

“It validates everything that I have worked for these last three years, and it marks that I am one step closer to changing lives,” Klose said.

While the white coat can serve as a reminder of what hard work has been put into the program, it can also symbolize what lies ahead. As these 33 students move forward into their graduate program and clinical experiences, many are excited to gain hands-on experience. For Megan Paisley, a fourth-year Speech-Language Pathology student, she is most excited to work alongside her very own clients while applying what the program has taught her thus far.

“Everything we’ve been taught in this field and prepared for is ultimately for the benefit of helping others regarding their communication. Being able to evaluate, treat and make meaningful connections with others is what this is all about,” Paisley said.

There are many different fields a Speech-Language Pathologist can enter. For Sarah Speraw, a fourth-year Speech Language Pathology student, she has future plans to enter the field of a traveling SLP, whilst others, like Klose, look to work in pediatric acute care or pediatric in-patient rehab.

Even though some may know exactly what they want to do, others, like Megan Paisley, plan to utilize this graduate program as a way to explore what career paths are available in the Speech Language Pathology field.

“Although I am not completely sure what field I would like to enter post-graduation, I am hoping to find out and discover this throughout these two years of the graduate program. What I do know is, I love working with pediatrics,” Paisley said.

As of now, Paisley can see herself either working within an outpatient rehabilitation center, private practice or Intermediate Unit.

(photo credit: Lebanon Valley College Speech Language Pathology Department Facebook page) [...]

[3,7,8

post-17400","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-campus-news","category-front-page","category-homepage
["GET
