{"id":17365,"date":"2026-08-25T15:17:57","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T19:17:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/?p=17365"},"modified":"2026-10-17T09:00:12","modified_gmt":"2026-10-17T13:00:12","slug":"first-class-to-graduate-lvcs-nursing-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2026\/08\/25\/first-class-to-graduate-lvcs-nursing-program\/","title":{"rendered":"First class to graduate LVC\u2019s nursing program"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-1 wp-block-paragraph\">By Rylee Funk \u201929, staff writer<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-2 wp-block-paragraph\">Twenty-four students walked across the stage in spring 2026, becoming the first cohort to graduate from LVC\u2019s developing nursing program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-3 wp-block-paragraph\">The nursing program started in fall 2021 with its first-year class of students. Over the past four years the program has grown and developed, and now the first class of the new nursing program has graduated. A big achievement for the program and the students was having a 100-percent NCLEX pass rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-4 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne way the program supported us was through NCLEX preparation,\u201d Isaac Sider, a graduate of the 2026 nursing program, said. \u201cWe had access to quiz questions that helped prepare to take our NCLEX and ultimately get a 100% pass rate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-5 wp-block-paragraph\">Most nursing programs have been around for years and have had a lot more time to build the foundation and groundwork for success. However, in this new program, building the foundation took patience, resilience, hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-6 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWhat makes this graduating class so special is that they took a chance on a new program and helped shape its culture, traditions, and identity,\u201d Dr. Terri Worthey, the nursing program chair, said. \u201cTheir feedback, resilience and commitment to excellence have contributed significantly to the program's development. Their achievements, including their success on the NCLEX and their readiness to enter the nursing profession, reflect not only their hard work but also the dedication of our faculty, staff, clinical partners, and the broader LVC community.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-7 wp-block-paragraph\">As the program grew and developed, students and faculty faced challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color has-medium-font-size wp-elements-8 wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOne of the biggest challenges was navigating the unknown,\u201d Worthey said. \u201cAs the first class, there was no previous group to share experiences or advice, so many things felt new for everyone involved.
