Senior English & Creative Writing major Brielle Krepps wasn\u2019t certain what path to take before she first arrived at LVC.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was concerned about the applicability of an English degree but eventually decided to pursue it anyway.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI originally wanted to do something more stable, possibly physical therapy or psychology, but I ultimately went with English and creative writing because that\u2019s where my passion is at,\u201d Krepps said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krepps has applied her passion to a project in creative writing honors\u2014an original novel based on the myth of King Midas titled \u201cDaughter of Gold.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe work reimagines the myth of King Midas from the perspective of his daughter who he turns to gold,\u201d Krepps said.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her project culminated in a New Work Series talk delivered to English faculty and students in late March. During the talk, Krepps discussed her inspiration for the project, her approach to writing and her progress so far. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019ve learned a lot about my process and what motivates me to complete projects,\u201d Krepps said. \u201cI have about a fourth of a draft completed and am hoping to finish the draft and ultimately look at publication in addition to whatever career I end up pursuing.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krepps believes that an English degree is applicable now more than ever and can be applied to many different professional careers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cIn an age of ChatGPT and AI, being an effective writer and communicator is more important than ever,\u201d Krepps said. \u201cThe English program at LVC does a great job of preparing you to stand out and communicate more effectively. It gives you a leg up.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Krepps\u00a0will graduate with a bachelor\u2019s degree in English and\u00a0creative\u00a0writing.\u00a0\u00a0She\u2019s\u00a0accepted a job at\u00a0WebFX\u00a0in Harrisburg.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
