Anna Sawicki\u2019s sophomore indoor track season has been nothing short of remarkable. The multi-event athlete has beaten her own records this season and finished sixth in the Pentathlon at the 2026 NCAA Championships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sawicki has been preparing both emotionally and physically for this season. She used the motivation from just missing the qualifying mark for outdoor nationals last season to fuel her motivation going into the indoor season. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPhysically, my coaches have put a lot of extra time and attention into my training, which has really shown in my indoor performances. Mentally, I\u2019ve focused on accepting that there will be both good and bad days, and to stay consistent with my training, trusting the process my coaches have laid out for me,\u201d said Sawicki. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Friday, March 13, Sawicki broke her own school record with a score of 3578 points in the pentathlon. She finished sixth overall and earned First Team All-American honors at the NCAA National Championships in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Birmingham CrossPlex. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When competing at a national level, Sawicki says that there are few things that are more rewarding than setting a big goal and finally achieving it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRather than putting the pressure of expectations on myself, I\u2019m trying to fully enjoy the experience and make the most of the opportunity to compete at this level. I\u2019m honestly just really excited to be here and can\u2019t wait to see what the meet has in store,\u201d said Sawicki.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is still so much to come for Sawicki. Coming off the excitement of this season, this spring for the outdoor season, Sawicki will be competing in the heptathlon, which is the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 meters, long jump, javelin, and the 800 meters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cEach season at LVC has pushed me to raise the bar on what I thought was possible for myself as an athlete, which really speaks to the support and coaching we have here. Our team dynamic also plays a huge role; after sweeping indoor MACs, everyone is energized and motivating each other, which creates a great environment for big performances to come,\u201d said Sawicki. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
