{"id":16422,"date":"2026-02-24T19:46:32","date_gmt":"2026-02-24T19:46:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/?p=16422"},"modified":"2026-02-24T19:46:33","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T19:46:33","slug":"driven-on-and-off-the-course-alexa-pridhams-lvc-journey","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2026\/02\/24\/driven-on-and-off-the-course-alexa-pridhams-lvc-journey\/","title":{"rendered":"Driven on and off the course: Alexa Pridham\u2019s LVC journey\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By Marina Biltcliff,&nbsp;co-editor-in-chief&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From being a resident assistant&nbsp;and&nbsp;responder&nbsp;on call, to graduate school&nbsp;student&nbsp;to&nbsp;member&nbsp;of the golf team, Alexa Pridham does it all.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pridham is&nbsp;a&nbsp;fourth-year&nbsp;physical therapy student&nbsp;and&nbsp;an active member of LVC\u2019s golf team. Despite her ever-busy schedule, she&nbsp;maintains&nbsp;a&nbsp;strong level of commitment to all&nbsp;her&nbsp;activities and academic endeavors.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I started my time here at LVC only doing one activity,\u201d Pridham said. \u201cThen I started to expand my horizons as I got more confident managing my time.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the unique&nbsp;jobs&nbsp;Pridham does is she works as&nbsp;a responder on call, which is a newly reopened position to select senior resident assistants. This job entails added duties in addition to the already expected duties of all resident assistants.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI have to manage all my roles at once,\u201d she said.&nbsp;\u201cI can\u2019t be the responder&nbsp;on call and also at practice, so I have to make sure that my schedule aligns properly.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pridham joined the golf&nbsp;team during&nbsp;her sophomore&nbsp;year and&nbsp;has valued&nbsp;the experiences and relationships&nbsp;she\u2019s&nbsp;built.&nbsp;While being an athlete may sound stressful, especially with such a full load already, Pridham finds it a therapeutic outlet.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGolf is a great way for me to&nbsp;destress,\u201d she said. \u201cIt lets me do something I love while also hanging out with great people.&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While she now has found a balance, she has hit roadblocks while being a student-athlete. Pridham does not shy away from acknowledging scarifies&nbsp;she\u2019s&nbsp;had to make to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;her athletics and academics.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had to drop out of some clubs due to not having enough time in my schedule,\u201d she said. \u201cI also have had&nbsp;to learn how to balance my personal interests with my academic and work life.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these challenges, Pridham encourages all students to pursue a sport on campus.&nbsp;While it may&nbsp;seem like&nbsp;too much of a time commitment, she argues that it has been one of the most rewarding experiences during her time here at LVC.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think everyone should make the most of their time here at LVC,\u201d she said. \u201cBut students should make sure not to spread themselves too thin in the process.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By Marina Biltcliff,&nbsp;co-editor-in-chief&nbsp;&nbsp; From being a resident assistant&nbsp;and&nbsp;responder&nbsp;on call, to graduate school&nbsp;student&nbsp;to&nbsp;member&nbsp;of the golf team, Alexa Pridham does it all.&nbsp;&nbsp; Pridham is&nbsp;a&nbsp;fourth-year&nbsp;physical therapy student&nbsp;and&nbsp;an active member of LVC\u2019s golf team.
