Every semester new students come to LVC to pursue their dreams. For one of these first years, it\u2019s acting on a stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasmine Aument, a first year music major, is currently an aspiring actor. Ever since she was little, she admired the actors from movies and her high school plays.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once she got to high school, Jasmine auditioned for a play and was not cast, but she didn\u2019t give up and instead took a stagehand role. This allowed her to learn more about theater behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adamant about acting, she tried again for a musical and got a part in the cast. She did five shows in stage crews and three as a cast member throughout high school. She has been auditioning for four years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cRejection is hard, but you have to understand that it is not a personal attack against you,\u201d Aument said. \u201cSometimes you just don\u2019t fit the vision for that certain character and that\u2019s okay.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are hundreds of other auditions you can do,\u201d Aument said. \u201cOne ‘no’ doesn\u2019t mean ‘no’ for everything in the future and you shouldn\u2019t stay hung up on one rejection for too long.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to acting, Aument suggested knowing the show one is auditioning for is key, as well as watching previous productions of the play or musical to get a better understanding.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aument is very passionate about her future and said this to those who may be nervous or questioning a career in theater. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJust do it,” Aument said. “If you have a feeling that it\u2019s meant for you, then go for it and don\u2019t let anything stop you.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aument is currently trying out for LVC music theatre’s next production, “Carrie,” and plans to continue her pursuit of acting throughout her collegiate career.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
