LVC recently installed a new, Olympic-grade track that enhances safety, boosts athletic performance and strengthens campus pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The College completed the installation of a new track over the summer, marking a major step forward for the College\u2019s athletic facilities. The project reflects LVC\u2019s commitment to providing high-quality resources for student-athletes and the broader campus community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Patrick Ratke, director of athletics, the upgrade was driven by both safety concerns and the growing success of LVC\u2019s track and field program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe previous track had exceeded its lifespan and was becoming unsafe to run on,\u201d Ratke said. \u201cWith how well our athletes have been performing, it was time for something that matched their level of commitment and talent.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Planning for the project began a little over two years ago and required careful coordination among multiple departments. Ratke noted that heavy rainfall in July caused some construction delays, but the team managed to finish on schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new surface is the same type used for the Olympic track and is expected to last more than 20 years. It offers athletes a faster, safer and more durable surface while giving the complex a modern new look. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe wanted something new that would stand out,\u201d Ratke said. \u201cThis surface is both high-performing and cost-effective.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The renovation benefits not only athletes, but also the entire LVC community. The track is open to every student and local residents, promoting fitness and wellness across campus. Ratke added that the improved facility could help LVC host more meets and attract new students.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNice things breed nice things,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you invest in quality facilities, it elevates everything.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future plans include expanding athletic spaces and adding new locker rooms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe new track represents progress for the whole campus,\u201d Ratke said. \u201cIt\u2019s something our students can be proud of.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
