For most college students, their life at school is consumed of balancing academics, activities, and friendships. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For John Adams, a senior at LVC, that balance once included the very demanding schedule of being a student-athlete.\u00a0 Having played baseball his first two years of college, Adams now experiences campus life from a new view. No longer as an athlete, but as a student focused on academics and personal growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adams recalls the demanding commitment required to be both a student and an athlete. Between practices, games, and travel often meant that he would have to structure his days carefully to stay on top of schoolwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBaseball was a strong passion of mine my whole life, but I knew the time had come to step away,\u201d Adams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now that he\u2019s stepped away from the sport, Adams has found more freedom in his schedule and a chance to engage in different parts of campus life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHaving more freedom to complete schoolwork and other hobbies has been awesome,\u201d Adams shared.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite no longer playing, Adams shares that the lessons he learned from baseball continue to influence him. Skills like discipline and time management have carried over into his academic and personal life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

 \u201cThe time management skills I learned from baseball travel over hand in hand to academics,\u201d Adams said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking forward, Adams believes his unique perspective helps him connect with both student-athletes and non-athletes. He understands the pressures of balancing athletics with his academics, while now also appreciating the freedom and opportunities that are available outside of sports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through his journey at school, Adams demonstrates that the student experience at Lebanon Valley College is not the same for everyone. Whether it be on the field or in the classroom, his story shows how change can bring growth and new opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
