{"id":15279,"date":"2025-09-13T18:23:33","date_gmt":"2025-09-13T18:23:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/?p=15279"},"modified":"2025-10-30T22:27:33","modified_gmt":"2025-10-30T22:27:33","slug":"from-europe-to-the-racetrack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2025\/09\/13\/from-europe-to-the-racetrack\/","title":{"rendered":"From Europe to the racetrack"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p>By Cole Byerly \u201926, associate editor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One student\u2019s summer took her from classrooms in Europe to the marketing industry back home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zowie Zokuskie, a junior business administration and marketing major, split her summer between studying abroad in the Netherlands and interning in the marketing field in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Maastricht University, Zokuskie took courses alongside students from around the world, gaining an international perspective on business and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cStudying abroad was the best experience of my entire life,\u201d Zokuskie said. \u201cI gained knowledge about different cultures along with the opportunity to travel, having a new view on life.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Back in Pennsylvania, she worked as a marketing intern with Pennsylvania Horsemen\u2019s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA) at Penn National Race Course. Her responsibilities included managing social media accounts, planning events and helping with hospitality efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis opportunity has allowed me to get my foot in the door with sports marketing, an industry that is so diverse,\u201d Zokuskie said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By combining global education with hands-on marketing experience, Zokuskie returned to campus this fall with fresh skills and insights to guide her future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis entire summer has let me broaden my outlook of the world and workforce,\u201d Zokuskie said. \u201cIt created so many opportunities that I am grateful for and can\u2019t wait to see where my career takes me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zokuskie will continue her internship at Penn National Race Course this fall and looks forward to applying what she learned this summer to her future goals.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<div class=\"mh-excerpt\"><p>By Cole Byerly \u201926, associate editor One student\u2019s summer took her from classrooms in Europe to the marketing industry back home.
