After a 10-year hiatus that ended in 2020, Clio has been making a stable comeback within the community on campus. Alexandra Gomez, senior international business major and president of Clio, upholds the sorority’s long-time core values and continues to add more as the organization grows.

“I’m really excited about this, we added some new values,” Gomez said. “At Clio we value loyalty, friendship and leadership, and we just added commitment and consistency because that’s really important when it comes to working together and uplifting each other.”

Clio’s sisters pride themselves on their tight bond thanks to the sorority bringing them together. According to Gomez, what she likes most about Clio is that every member is friends with one another that joining the sorority has allowed her to abandon any preconceived notions and myths about Greek life in general, giving her the opportunity to fully appreciate what the sorority has done for her.

This year, Clio is excited to engage in more service activities, including working with their partnered charity Oceana—an organization that serves to protect the world’s oceans. Gomez makes it a point to spread word about Oceana more throughout this school year.

“We partner with Oceana every year,” Gomez said. “We have some upcoming projects to spread awareness for Oceana, because we’ve noticed that no one knew what Oceana was, and that really hit me hard because that is something that Clio has been passionate about for years.”

Alongside their annual partnership with Oceana, Clio also organizes a fundraiser once a semester with Ginger Scents—one of the sisters’ family businesses. Throughout the year, Clio also holds events for the sisters such as “Sister Nights” that Gomez herself started the previous school year when she was Vice President of the Sorority.

“It’s just a night where the sisters get together and they do an activity completely up to us,” Gomez said. “Even when our schedules get busy over the semester, it’s nice to regroup and know that we all love each other. It’s almost like igniting our sisterhood.”

Whilst upholding their duties and responsibilities as Clio members, the sisters have been able to find moments of companionship and relaxation with one another as a means of de-stressing while also strengthening the bond they all have.

Anyone interested in learning about or potentially joining Clio, they should email Alexandra Gomez at amg022@lvc.edu or follow the sorority’s Instagram page @cliolvc.

(By Melissa Toribio ’25, staff writer) The start of a new school year means the return of Greek life at LVC for the 24-25 school year. Not only are first years given the chance to […]

[3

0":"post-12340","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-campus-news
["GET
