{"id":12145,"date":"2024-04-24T14:07:36","date_gmt":"2024-04-24T14:07:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/wordpress\/lavie\/?p=12145"},"modified":"2026-08-06T20:07:18","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T20:07:18","slug":"the-heart-of-lvcs-business-department","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wordpress.lvc.edu\/lavie\/2024\/04\/24\/the-heart-of-lvcs-business-department\/","title":{"rendered":"The heart of LVC's business department"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"dslc-theme-content\"><div id=\"dslc-theme-content-inner\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By Bella Getz \u201924, staff writer)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When anyone steps into LVC\u2019s department of business, accounting &amp; economics, they\u2019re greeted by a warm smile and infectious energy from none other than Deb Orlando.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDeb is the very heart of our department,\u201d Dr. Treva Clark, chair of the department of business, accounting &amp; economics, said.&nbsp;\u201cShe brings a passion to every task, and her boundless commitment to our students is absolutely inspiring.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deb's journey at LVC began in 2016 as a public safety officer. She worked in that role until 2021, before transitioning to her current role as administrative assistant to the department of business, accounting, economics &amp; digital communications.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Deb has significantly impacted the department, juggling her administrative duties with her pursuit of an MBA at LVC. Despite her busy schedule, she remains a constant source of support and guidance for students and faculty.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cDeb is a great resource for ideas and insight,\u201d Dr. Kimberlee Josephson, associate professor of business administration, said. \u201cShe keeps our department on track, and she is a stellar office mate.\"&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What sets Deb apart is her dedication to the LVC community. Whether she is answering questions, offering advice or simply sharing a friendly conversation, her positive energy uplifts everyone around her. In celebration of Administrative Professionals\u2019 Day, it is fitting to honor Deb\u2019s contributions to our department and our campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe would be lost without her,\u201d Dr. Lindsey Porter, assistant professor of accounting, said. \u201cShe goes above and beyond every day in everything she does.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At LVC, Deb isn\u2019t just a staff member; she\u2019s a friend, mentor and guiding light.
