Be career-ready by attending events at the Breen Center for Career and Professional Development this semester

The Breen Center for Career and Professional Development offers Pizza with Professionals and other events designed to promote student career readiness and success in the 2023 spring semester. 

The Breen Center for Career and Professional Development is an excellent resource for LVC students to utilize throughout their current and future careers. Students can receive help with resume building, practice for interviews and build interpersonal skills that will benefit them throughout their career journeys. 

The Pizza with Professionals events provide opportunities for students to learn about and establish connections with visiting businesses. Students can enjoy pizza while learning about various career-readiness topics. 

The Pizza with Professionals events offered in the 2023 spring semester are as follows:  

Feb. 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. – The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) 

UPMC employees and LVC alums Jessica Ritchie ’99 and Sara Love M ’09 will present information on keeping an open mind to career opportunities. Visit https://www.upmc.com/ for more information about UPMC. 

Feb. 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. – WebFx 

Julie Gardner, Talent Acquisition Specialist from WebFx will present information on social media etiquette and best practices. Visit https://www.webfx.com/ for more information about WebFx. 

March 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. – Fastenal 

Liz Ortiz, Regional Recruiter, and Ryan Levengood, District Manager, from Fastenal will present information on personal branding. Visit https://www.fastenal.com/ for more information about Fastenal. 

April 18, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. – MSISS Program 

Les VanBelkum, Senior Intelligence Analyst and the guest speaker for LVC’s Master of Science in Intelligence and Security Studies (MSISS) Program will present information on the highlights in pursuing intelligence and national security careers. All Pizza with Professionals events will be held in the Underground. Students should register on Handshake at least two days prior to each event to ensure that enough food is provided. 

The Breen Center will also hold an Etiquette Dinner on Thursday, Feb. 16. Students will learn the proper etiquette of fine dining and networking at this event.  

On April 14, the Breen Center for Career and Professional Development will host a visit to Clark Associates. The visit will include a tour of the facilities, a meeting with LVC alumni and an opportunity to learn about the company’s history and culture. The bus will depart LVC at 10 a.m. and will return at 3 p.m. The Breen Center will contact professors on behalf of any student in need of an excused absence.
