Introducing the first-year class officers

By Jess Benninger ’26, staff writer

Roman Schelhorn, President

Major: Business Administration, International Business, Economics

Goal in student government this year: As a part of the first-year class, our main objective is to create and plan a social event for the entire first-year class. For that, I intend to take advantage of the upperclassmen’s experience and advice so that my fellow student government members and I can most effectively collaborate and organize something unique for the whole class to enjoy. As it pertains to the entire student government, I am still learning the ropes, but I am doing so quickly. I believe I will be able to contribute more to the organization’s efforts in the near future, thus making a greater positive impact on the entirety of this school.

Previous experience in student government: I possess several years of student government experience; I have been a part of both my class’s student government and my school’s student council each year throughout middle school and high school.

Current career aspirations: Personally, I aspire to carve my own path as an entrepreneur by starting my own business.

LVC event most excited for: With all the talk about Homecoming recently, it’s hard not to be excited to see what the event is like here at LVC. Although, I am equally excited about Dutchmen Day since many of the upperclassmen have had nothing but good things to say about it.

Caroleena Orta, Vice President

Major: Speech-Language Pathology

Goal in student government this year: I hope to gain trust and connections with a large majority of the first-year class.

Previous experience in student government: I have experience in student government. I was my class’s Vice President for all four years of high school.

Current career aspirations: I hope to work in a hospital setting, working with a variety of ages. I hope to work with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and with any other traumatic injuries or experiences. I hope to also get my doctorate.

LVC event most excited for: I am excited for Dutchmen Day in April. It is a great way for the college to join and celebrate being an LVC Dutchmen.

Marina Biltclif, Treasurer

Major: Political Science, English

Goal in student government this year: I hope to accurately represent the first-year student body in student government this year. I also hope to help plan our first-year class social this year in student government.

Previous experience in student government: I was involved with student government while I was in middle school.

Current career aspirations: I aim to obtain a job as a lobbyist or work for a political activism group, or I hope to attend law school and become a divorce attorney.

LVC event most excited for: This year I am certainly most excited for the winter formal; however, Dutchmen Day is probably a close second.

Ashley Kimble, Secretary

Major: Actuarial Science

Goal in student government this year: I am aiming to be an active member of student government, voice student concerns, plan events for LVC, and follow through and help set up and run those events.

Previous experience in student government: I have been in student government throughout all my years of middle school and high school.

Current career aspirations: My current career aspirations are to gain networking experiences and internships during college and become an actuary when I graduate from LVC.

LVC event most excited for: I am looking forward to homecoming weekend coming up this weekend.

Sierra Kapcsos, Equity Representative

Major: Physical Therapy

Goal in student government this year: I am hoping to get involved with any projects and events that I can and make a difference in the lives of as many LVC students as possible.

Previous experience in student government: I do not have any student government experience, but I am excited to see what I can contribute to LVC during my time with the club!

Current career aspirations: After earning my DPT I hope to specialize in special needs pediatrics. I am excited to give my time to a community that plays a big role in my family’s life!

LVC event most excited for: I am excited to attend Dutchmen Day.

Emma Mitchell, Commuter Representative

Major: Nursing

Goal in student government this year: This year in student government, I really want to work on including commuters in the student body. I want to try and plan fun commuter events everyone would enjoy.

Previous experience in student government: I was the Secretary for my class all four years at my high school. I also participated in student council for some time.

Current career aspirations: My current career aspirations are to be a pediatric ER nurse, or a labor and delivery nurse.
