In a season that many questioned would even happen, the LVC women’s soccer team sent their seniors off in style with a massive 2-1 victory over York College of Pennsylvania on senior day.

The win marked the end of the home portion of the Dutchmen schedule and brought the team’s home record to an undefeated two wins and zero losses. Senior team captain Maya Cohen was proud of her team’s performance.

“Getting a win in our last home game was a great feeling,” Cohen said. “Regardless of the score, I was so proud of the way our team played. It was a tough game and every single player fought to the last minute.”

Cohen and her fellow seniors were able to enjoy one last victory at Herbert Field in front of their home fans and family.

“It means a lot that everybody put their all into the game,” Cohen said. “We’ve been practicing and working out non-stop for the past year and a half, so it was amazing to see all the hard work we’ve been putting in pay off.”

The Dutchmen hope their solid play in the shortened season will help pay off next year as their younger players have gained valuable experience.

“Given how we’ve played with just three games under our belt, I’m very optimistic about the future of this team,” Cohen said. “I can’t wait to cheer them on next season.”

The Dutchmen prepare to close their season on the road at Albright College on Thursday, April 22 at 7 p.m.
