Many LVC students know and love the friendly golden retriever who frequented campus in the evenings in search of attention and belly rubs from pet-deprived students.

A recent heartfelt Instagram post from @petthepoochlvc shared the news that Bailey died on July 23. Bailey’s presence will be sorely missed on campus this semester, as he spent the past ten years becoming a fixture of LVC’s community.

Bailey began taking walks at LVC in 2010. According to an Instagram post, Bailey’s “chauffeur’s” goal was to take a long walk in the evenings and get rid of some of Bailey’s extra energy.

“Bailey’s goal each night very quickly became something else: to get petted by as many LVC students as would have him,” said Bailey’s final Instagram caption. “Eventually, I realized his goal was by far the more important of the two.”

Bailey lived to be almost 14, spending most of these years loving and being loved by the students of LVC.

“Let me just say, to all of Bailey’s friends, you indeed were loved by him,” said Bailey’s last Instagram caption.
