Karaoke night at Bishop Library

Bishop Library held a karaoke night open to students and faculty alike on Friday, Jan. 31.

The event was jointly hosted by LVC’s chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association. They serve to empower and support students in the communications sciences and disorders field through scholarships, leadership opportunities and financial support.

At karaoke, any member of the audience could sign up on a sheet and was then able to perform a song of their choice. There were also featured singers, including faculty members Diana Cobb, Rebecca Lister, Roberto Marti, Tammy Miller, Mindy Nguyen, Brandon Smith, and Jen Thornsberry. Spectators voted for their favorite act in order to crown a winner.

Voting was done through donations. Audience members voted for the winner by putting money or gently used books in bins labeled with the performer they thought had put on the best show. After determining the winner, the proceeds were donated to local libraries of the participants’ choice.

Diana Cobb won the event. A total of 72 people came out to participate and spectate. Bishop Library collected 25 books and $118.67 in donations.
