Keeping students safe on campus

Lebanon Valley College is dedicated to the safety of students, faculty and staff with emergency blue lights throughout campus.

Twenty-two emergency blue lights are placed around campus and work as a telephone for emergency situations. These phones can be used for assistance with security, medical emergencies, fire alerts or alert authorities of suspicious activities. If a person pushes the red button at one of the locations, the emergency blue lights will connect the person in need with a campus Public Safety officer or dispatcher and notify them of the individual’s location.

“A public safety officer or dispatcher will respond to the location within 3-4 minutes,” Brent Oberholtzer, director of Public Safety, said. “Public Safety has not had an emergency call from the blue lights in almost eight years.”

The Emergency Blue Lights are located in various locations that include the Arnold Sports Center, Gold Parking Lot, outside of Funkhouser Residence Hall, and inside every dorm and elevator. Individuals do not need to be an LVC student to receive help. If anyone finds oneself in an emergency situation, find a blue light and push the red button to alert Public Safety.
