Community opens their hearts to AHA event

By Janessa Cruz

A night of giving and community, the annual Lebanon County Heart Ball was held on April 7.

This was the first year the College has hosted the much-anticipated Central PA event. The Heart Ball was originally held at the Lebanon Country Club, but moved to the College because the attendance grew significantly.

An event held to honor those who have overcome heart disease, the community gathers to remember those lost. One child and his parents shared their story at the event.

Cody Truax was diagnosed with hypo-plastic left heart syndrome in utero.

“The time up to then [Cody’s birth] was very uncertain,” said James Truax, Cody’s father. “Luckily the doctors and nurses were very involved, greeted us, got to know us by name, and still recognize him.”

Helping children like Cody wouldn’t be possible without the help of sponsors and chairs of the event. Candoris, a technology solutions company in Annville, who also sponsors esports at the College, sponsored the Heart Ball and committed to being a co-chair for the 2019 Heart Ball.

The College enabled the community to come together to enhance awareness, treatments, and research to heart disease and stroke.
